Inspired by all the Monarch butterflies in my garden.
This agave is on Channel Drive on the bike path along Butterfly Beach in Montecito, California.
Yucca by the Sea
The setting sun incandesces the white flowers of this soft leaf yucca. This striking Yucca is on Channel Drive on the bike path along Butterfly Beach in Montecito, California.
This poppy-like succulent flower, sways and jitters on slender wiry stems and peeps around my garden.
The lovely Purple Crest Aeonium. They are going off everywhere in my backyard with their brilliant yellow crowns. I isolated this one to paint.
Summer Solstice Sunflowers
Sunflowers! Inspired by the Summer Solstice parade that take place every year in Santa Barbara. Feeling very high-spirited, this was the result!
Hummingbirds are my favorite. They are mysterious mysterious to me in how they’re unpredictable in their movements as how they hover, fly backwards and dart every which way.
The perfect Spanish Hacienda! Adoring Mediterranean architecture, I couldn’t resist painting my dream garden entrance that is in Montecito, California.
Jacaranda Tree Path
Jacaranda trees are in full blossom. Some people feel that they make a big mess, but I love to see my favorite color, glowing in contrast with our city hardscape and nature. I’ll take the mess any day!
The Blue Agave always attracts my attention. Along the bike path at Butterfly Beach in Montecito, California on a warm summer day, here was one complimented by sunlit glimmers through the crepe like petals of the pink bougainvillea. It all came together exquisitely.
Palms at Dusk
Set against the Carpinteria Mountains, I captured all the colors and nuances in the palm trees from the early evening light.
