What drives me to paint is something that comes from within me. Some of my most fulfilling times are when I am painting. I get into a zone where I’m not thinking about anything and time slips away and a new creation is born.
My painting technique over the years have been more detailed and representational of pictorial scenes, sometimes photo-realistic that people who have viewed them from a distance thought they were photographs.
Currently, I’m enjoying loosening up a bit, using a palette knife and larger brushes which keeps me from getting so detailed and allows me to move more fluid and expressive through the canvas. This new style is in my “Zen Works” portfolio.
You may wonder as you look through my portfolios as to if it’s all from the same artist. Yes, it's all me. Popular belief in the art world is that an artist should be recognized for a style, look or brand. I’m hoping that over time my styles and ideas will all meld into one, but I'm constantly inspired to experiment so perhaps my style will never be refined to any one thing. But, I can’t help myself! I enjoy experimenting and that’s what drives me to my studio.
I wish for you to get from my work an inspiration and a joy. Looking at a painting can mean many different things to many different people, but I hope everyone gets something in a positive way.
